The cricket season seems to go so fast now days so yet another season is over and all in all we have had a reasonably successful time. Our 1st team came 4th. 2nd team 6th and Sunday team 4th and with a little more application from the players we could have achieved promotion for the 1st and possibly the 2ndteams. My thanks go to all the captains Ozzy, Jon Potter and Jake Daly for all their work both on and off the field with a special thanks to Steve Carmody for all his organisation. Our Sunday team with many youngsters playing had a creditable season and hopefully now that some of the players are that bit older the team can continue to improve. Unfortunately our Ladies team did not get to play any matches at all due to many circumstances and we hope these can be overcome so they can play again next year. What about our Academy – they have had a brilliant season with the Under 10’s who came 2nd, the Under 11’s who also came 2nd as well as being runners up in the cup, and the Under 12’s who WON their league. Congratulations to everyone particularly the coaches.

My thanks once again goes to Steph for continuing to serve up the best teas and breakfasts week in and week out. With 4 boys (and Steve) to look after I don’t know how she manages but we are all so thankful for all Stephs hard work on Saturdays, Sundays and any corporate events we hold. I also thank Steve who managers to organise the stock, first team players and Presidents Day asd well as covering Pete Guest on some evening fixtures. Once again many thanks to the Carmody’s.

There are many people to thank particularly your committee many of whom continue to regularly attend meetings, take the Academy coaching and organise the matches and transport etc. Many thanks to Pat Carmody and Martin Handley for all the great work done on the preparation of the wickets and squares. This takes many hours of work and this can be seen by the standard of wickets they have provided us with during the season. Pete Guest has again excelled in his organisation of the evening league matches, tour games and corporate days and we are greatly indebted to him for all his work as well as the most important revenue he brings in to the club. Unfortunately due to a bad knee Mike Turner has been unable to umpire this season which has been a big loss to the club because he pretty well used to umpire every 2nd team game. We have been pleased to see him and Elaine at some of the matches and hope he is able to get down again next season. I must also thank Jonny and Chris Lawrence for their time spent in regularly scoring for the 2nd Team. Thanks also go to John Gell for his added work on being our Treasurer and Jon Potter for the work he does on and off the field. Many thanks also to Will Browne for re-setting up and keeping going the scorebox and to Mike Browne for his continuing support year after year.

Once again Lenton and Willoughby have proved to be excellent tenants and we look forward to this continuing for years to come .

Our annual presentation evening was again held at the Westminster Hotel and it was nice to see a reasonable number of players and committee members (including a few more ladies) enjoying a good meal and good night out. There were plenty of awards this year including 4 awards for centuries scored during the season. My wife June and I would personally like to thank everyone for the presentation made to us which although embarrassing was truly appreciated.

If I have missed anyone off in my thanks please accept my apologies.
